FLOW THROUGH CELL (USP 4)
The testing of so-called semi-solids is described in USP Chapter <1724>. The apparatus 4, the so-called “flow through cell”, is also described here. The absorption of medicinal forms through the skin can thus be simulated well using a flow principle.
In addition to testing semisolids, any form of drug such as tablets, granules, suppositories with extended or continuous release of the active ingredient can be tested using the flow principle.
