Immersion Cell for the RIGGTEK Dissilio
Testing so-called semisolids - such as ointments, creams, lotions and gels - is often a difficult and time-consuming task. The so-called "vertical diffusion cell" - also known as the "Franz cell" - is often used for this purpose, but requires complex troublesome temperature and flow through control! The "Immersion Cell" is an alternative described by USP, Chapter <1724> for testing semisolids. Despite the simple and more reproducible application with the USP Apparatus 2 (paddles), it is less known.
The advantages of the Immersion Cell are:
- Easy to use in the Dissilio with a 200mL - Small Volume Paddle Conversion Kit with 200mL Flat Bottom Vessel. Alternatively the Immersion Cell can also be placed in a 1l-vessel.
- Easy filling of the semisolids into the immersion cell. The desired test volume is adjustable at the Model A type.
- Easy attachment of the membrane.
- Simple temperature control with the dissolution tester's water bath.
- Release with the mini-paddle method, no susceptible flow-through principle.
- Sampling as usual with the paddle method (mechanical or automated).
The Immersion Cell can of course be used with the Dissilio, so that the Dissilio can also be used flexibly with this application for Semisolids - "SIMPLY SMART".
We offer you according your demands both possible versions - Model A (with adjustable chamber) or Model B with fixed chamber size. PVDF, Tuffryn Polysulfone and Strat-Membrane are available on request as membranes with 25mm OD.
